Study companion and missions: visual progress

The orb is a visual study companion that makes continued practice easier to recognise. Missions and levels reflect verified study sessions; they do not replace results, reviewing mistakes or understanding the syllabus.

Meet my companion

Two ways to accompany you without interrupting

In Simple mode the orb stays still at the top of the document. In Companion mode it moves along gentle paths, notices the pointer when it comes near and occasionally stops by text as if reading it. You can disable mouse or trackpad following in Settings, use Simple or switch it off.

Its movement tries to avoid text and study images and to be unobtrusive on dense screens. It behaves more quietly during exams and respects the system preference for reduced motion.

Missions, XP and level evolution

The orb shows the current mission and progress toward the next level. Verified, saved study sessions contribute to missions, while new appearances, colours and names mark visual evolution.

Experience points indicate continuity of use: they are not grades or proof of learning. Correct answers, mistakes and study outcomes remain in the session history.

Responses during study

In Companion mode, small gestures respond to correct answers, streaks and mistakes. The orb can blink, look toward the pointer, squint when touched, greet a tap and occasionally put on reading glasses. These are visual effects: they do not change answers, scores or exercises.

It is not an AI conversational tutor and does not make academic decisions for you. Animations may vary with the screen, device and accessibility settings.

Use missions to support your study rather than distract

  1. Open Settings and choose Off, Simple or Companion.
  2. View the active mission and the next evolution in the orb panel.
  3. Practise with your own questions and save a completed study session.
  4. Review mistakes rather than chasing XP alone. See how to review quiz mistakes and how to practise active recall.

Frequently asked questions

Does the orb use AI to mark my answers?

No. Gestures are visual reactions to study events; marking is handled by the quiz functionality.

How do missions progress?

With verified, saved study sessions. The panel shows the current mission and requirements for the next level.

Can I disable the Companion?

Yes. Choose Off or Simple in Settings; Companion mode also lets you disable cursor following.
