Study your notes with AI: from reading to practice

AI can help turn long notes into specific exercises, but its value comes from keeping control of the source, checking answers and using your results to decide what to study next.

A study workflow built around your own material

  1. Prepare a manageable block. Work with a specific topic or section and check that the PDF contains readable text.
  2. Generate questions. In WayOfLearning, generation from documents requires your own Gemini or OpenAI key in AI Settings.
  3. Review before studying. Check the question, answer and explanation against the document. A generated reference can help locate a passage, but it does not replace verification.
  4. Answer without looking. Complete a session with the material closed and use the result to identify gaps.
  5. Return to the source. Correct the concept you missed and practise it again later with the same or reformulated questions.

What AI can do and what still depends on you

AI can speed up the preparation of questions and explanations, but it does not know the exact assessment criteria for your subject and cannot guarantee that an answer is correct. Treat each output as a draft to be checked against your material and, where appropriate, official teaching sources.

Avoid generating hundreds of questions before reviewing the first batch. If the bank over-focuses on one section, contains obvious distractors or introduces information absent from your notes, fix the process before increasing volume.

Combine formats according to the task

A multiple-choice question trains discrimination between alternatives; a flashcard can ask for brief retrieval; gap-fill works for terms and sequences; visual questions make sense when you need to identify elements in an image. You do not need to convert every topic into the same format.

WayOfLearning can combine banks and sessions. The verified flashcard workflow covers creating or importing cards in the manual question bank; this page does not claim built-in automatic PDF-to-flashcard generation.

From a correct answer to the next review

Do not use only the final percentage. Review uncertain correct answers, repeated mistakes and questions you cannot justify. A weakly guessed answer deserves checking even if it was marked correct.

History and mistake practice can help you decide what to repeat. The application does not claim an algorithm can know the exact moment you will forget each concept: choose the next session according to your results, calendar and exam date.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an AI key to study my notes?

To generate questions from documents in WayOfLearning you need to configure your own compatible key in AI Settings. You can also study with manually created questions without automatic generation.

Can I trust an AI-generated answer without checking it?

No. Check the wording, answer and explanation against your notes or teaching sources. AI can misread a passage or add information that is not present in the material.

Is it better to generate many questions at once?

Not necessarily. A small batch is easier to review for quality and coverage before you expand the bank.
