Methods you can put into practice

How to study 100 pages for an exam

A hundred pages are not a hundred equal units of difficulty. Before calculating how many to read per hour, establish what is assessed, how much time you have and what you already know.

Make an initial review with a concrete output

Look through the contents and learning objectives. Group the pages into blocks and identify the dominant content: definitions, relationships, procedures, images or exercises. The result should be a task list, not another full highlighting session.

Mark priority blocks by syllabus importance and your difficulties. Past questions may help you understand the format if you are allowed to use them, but they do not guarantee what will appear.

Estimate using a real sample

Work through a representative block: understand it, close your notes and try explaining it or answering questions. Observe how long the complete cycle takes. Using reading speed alone underestimates correction and review time.

Use that information to allocate sessions and leave a margin. If there is not enough time, decide explicitly which objectives are essential and which details will wait. No technique guarantees mastery of a hundred pages in a few hours.

Change how you measure progress

Instead of “I have read twenty pages”, check “I can distinguish these three concepts and explain this mechanism”. One block may need a comparison table, another a drawing from memory and another multiple-choice questions.

If you use AI, generate a few questions per objective and verify their answers. A huge initial bank can consume the time you need for studying. Keep questions that reveal specific gaps.

Reserve the final stretch for retrieval and correction

Leave time for a mixed-topic session and a short list of unresolved mistakes. Try to answer before looking. When something goes wrong, reread the precise section and explain it again in your own words.

If only one day remains, adjust the scope and avoid spending most of it designing a new system. Work on priority objectives, check understanding and preserve reasonable rest. The number of pages covered is no substitute for what you can recall.
